To commission
your work of art, send your photos to Laura Wilder at 1068 S. Goodman St., Rochester,
NY, 14620,
or e-mail
them to laura@laurawilder.com. After a thorough discussion
of the project, a preliminary sketch is done for
your
approval. Then the final art is created. Laura
considers a portrait commission to be a collaborative project,
and
encourages your input at all stages of the process. Payment is due upon completion.

Light on the left side

The success
of the final piece depends to a great extent on the quality of the photos
used.
For people
or pet portraits, you can create good results by:
1) not using
a flash, but natural daylight (although not direct sunlight).
2) positioning
the subject so that the light hits them on one side,
3) trying a
variety of expressions.
Big grins, while nice in snapshots, are
less effective in portraits than more subtle expressions.
For house photos,
make sure there is some sun in the photo(s), and take closeups as well
as shots that include the home's surroundings. It's also helpful to
shoot the house on an overcast day, when shadows aren't as black as
on a sunny day. If you aren't sure of the best angle take shots
from several angles. |
